Interning Abroad

Sara Roberts, a junior here at Auburn, is studying communication.  She spent last summer not by the pool like most of her friends, but instead cleaning up the beaches in Cornwall as part of her internship with Barefoot Winery.  This summer she will be traveling back to the United Kingdom to do another internship, this one with W Communications, a consumer public relations agency in London.  Sara says she enjoys interning abroad and recommends it to everyone.  “I feel as competitive as the job…See More

All Dogs go to College

For just a little over a year now the nursing program at Auburn University has been offering an elective to students that is not found at any other university.  This elective is pet assisted therapy and Auburn's Dr. Pope is helping bring this elective to the students of Auburn and the surrounding community.   With the help of Dr. Pope's two dogs, Miller and Choa, Auburn now offers a class that teaches students how animal assisted therapy helps people cope with illness.  Dr. Pope explains how…See More

The Toomer's Tragedy

Last week the students of Auburn were hit hard with the news that someone in the Auburn family was sick.  Who was this? None other than the oak trees that have stood at Toomer’s corner for over 130 years.  I can remember the first time I rolled Toomer’s corner.  I’m not sure who we played, nor do I know what year it was, but I know that I was young.  I was dressed in my Auburn cheerleading outfit and was holding my younger brother’s hand as we walked with my parents to the corner.  Neither of…See More

Meeting the Average Auburn Freshman

Catherine Stapleton is much like the average freshman just trying to find her footing here at Auburn.  She comes from Fairhope, Alabama where she has lived since birth.  As we chat she tells me about her senior year and how excited she was to come to Auburn.  Now with one semester under her belt she tells me about a few things she has learned and experienced this year. …See More

Horsin' Around

Auburn University, while known as a cow college around the state of Alabama, is so much more, there are horses here too! Lynlee Powell, an animal sciences graduate major, recently explained the equine sciences class and everything that it entails.

Equine sciences is part of the animal sciences program, and Powell’s class on horse production focuses on the horse breeding, horse management, nutrient and training aspects of taking care of a pregnant horse or mare, and foal, or baby…
