On June 1, 2011, Alabama HB 56 was signed in to law by Gov. Robert Bentley, changing the way immigrants are treated in Alabama. As a result, many prospective international students across the globe scratched Auburn University off of their lists of potential schools to attend in the United States. Ryan Forbus is a junior majoring in history at Auburn University. Upon arrival at Auburn, Forbus was unsure of exactly what major was for him. After speaking with several advisers and consulting family, he chose to pursue a degree in history with a minor concentration on political science.

Mr. John Updegraff is an academic advisor at Auburn, here to help Liberal Arts students with their scheduling needs and conflicts. His day starts early and ends late, and is filled with helping students who strive to be their best. He also keeps students on track for graduation, and is a valuable asset to any student who utilizes his advice. On Saturday January 22, 2011 the Auburn University family came together to celebrate what was the culmination of a year of hard work and devotion to a single cause, a BCS National Championship victory.
