10 Places to Eat Before You Graduate

Auburn may be a small town, but it has some of the best restaurants around. Here's a list of 10 places you must try before you graduate.

1. Momma Goldberg's

Momma G's is an Auburn tradition. Be sure to go to the original location at the corner of Donahue and Magnolia. They are famous for their nachos - Dorito's covered in pepperjack cheese. Friday afternoon is the best time to go and enjoy patio seating with a pitcher of beer.

2. The Hound

It's no secret that The Hound has the best brunch in Auburn. The wait is often up to two hours long on the weekends, but it is well worth it. They have $1 mimosas and omelets big enough to feed a small country.

3. Acre

If you want to impress on a first date, take her to Acre. The executive chef is an Auburn alum, and he prepares classic Southern food with an artful twist. There is a garden on-site, and they serve locally grown produce and meats.

4. Amsterdam

Amsterdam is a great place to go when your parents are in town. It is well established and popular among visitors and alumni. You can't go wrong with the menu, but they have one of the best burgers in Auburn.

5. Little Italy

If you haven't been to Little Italy, you aren't doing college right. This late-night establishment is the place to go for pizza, pitchers and people watching.

6. Veggies To Go

Veggies To Go has good, old-fashioned comfort food. They serve warm, hearty food that you can eat in or take out. It will remind you of home and your grandma's cooking.

7. Big Blue Bagel

Big Blue Bagel is open for breakfast and lunch, and they serve bagel sandwiches, wraps and salads. You will never want potato chips again after you try the bagel chips. Pure buttery goodness.

8. Moe's Barbecue

Moe's Barbecue is a downtown favorite. It is a restaurant during the day and a bar at night. Moe's has wine and bingo nights during the week and live music. Their signature drink is a bushwhacker, a chocolate or strawberry alcoholic milkshake.

9. Mike and Ed's

Now that I'm on the subject of barbecue, Mike and Ed's has the best in town. The price is friendly to a college student's budget, and the barbecue and curly fries cannot be beat.

10. Barbecue House

Barbeque House is more known for breakfast than for barbecue. The parking lot is always packed with regulars as early as 7 a.m. Barbecue House brings people together, and it is popular among students and locals.
