The Auburn University study abroad program provides opportunities for students to study in places like Spain, France, Italy, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, England, Germany and more.

Throughout the semester Auburn University offers orientation sessions and sends e-mail reminders about the study abroad programs to prospective students. Information related to orientation sessions, student guidelines, health and safety guidelines, travel requirements and information on the faculty is available online. Also, twice a year the Office of International Education/ Auburn Abroad, hosts a study abroad fair.

Sarah Justice, a senior majoring in interior design at Auburn University, studied abroad in Ariccia, Italy. As a freshman, Justice was informed about an opportunity to study abroad in Italy for her major. Justice jumped on the chance to study abroad not only to learn about her major, but also to learn the culture and language of a place like Italy.

Justice said the communication with Auburn was easy when it came to preparing for the trip. “We had one person that we would e-mail with all of the information to get us set up for it. A month before we left we had classes everyday just preparing us to go abroad,” Justice said.

Justice recommends that other students go to Italy or study abroad in general. “It is a great learning experience to learn about the culture, different people, learn the language. The food in Italy is amazing,” Justice said. Although the food was delicious, Justice was able to learn about the diversity of a place like Italy. Justice said she was able to learn the language and culture after being submerged in it for her three month experience abroad.

Justice urges freshman in interior design to sign up for this program because the experience was unforgettable. Not only does she say freshman should sign up, but they need to sign up soon. “Freshman in my program should specifically decide to do it now because to finish up the rest of their curriculum they have to have this decided their freshman year,” Justice said.

Justice and her friends enjoyed all the great architecture and sights of Italy, but Justice’s favorite memory is when they were visiting the Venetian canal and one of her friends slipped in the canal into the Adriatic Sea.

The study abroad program is available to all students at Auburn to take part in. For more information on study abroad programs available visit their Web site at http://www.auburn.edu/academic/international/oie/auburnabroad/, visit their office located in 243 Foy Hall or call (334) 844 5001.
