Today a major trend for college students is completing internships in their desired field. Many Auburn students are jumping on this trend and truly making it their own. One such student is Elizabeth Griffith.
Elizabeth heard about the Disney college program through friends who had completed the program in the past. She knew that she wanted to complete an internship, preferably at Disney, but never had a semester to break from classes.
Upon graduation in May or 2013 she took the leap and applied. Elizabeth now works in Main Entrance Operations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
“My favorite part about working for Disney is getting to be a small part of a guest’s vacation every day,” Griffith said.
She explains that as a guest she always considered Disney World the most magical place on earth, therefore she makes it her mission every day to give that experience to each guest she encounters.
One of the perks of working at Disney is free admission to the park for the time employed. Elizabeth typically works five days and then has two days off. On these days off she enjoys the parks and the Orlando area.
The public relations program at Auburn University encourages students to seek creative and exciting internships. Elizabeth felt prepared for her internship due to her Auburn education.
“We serve as the face of Disney, so it is crucial for us to stay positive, help guests in any way that we can, and be able to interact with guests of all ages and all nationalities,” Griffith said.
Elizabeth advises future students to use their time at Auburn to explore as many unique internship possibilities as possible. She also recommends checking out the Disney program!
