There are so many success stories of Auburn students going off into the real world and becoming great entrepreneurs.
That and more is the case for Audrey Johnson who is a Spring 2011 graduate of Auburn University.
Audrey graduated with a degree in Agriculture Economics from Auburn, but has always had a passion for the arts and for being creative. With pursuing her dreams Audrey is now the owner of Seahorse Lane Boutique. A boutique geared to fun jewelry and accessories for all ages.
From the beginning Audrey has always been into clothing and the arts, but it wasn’t until her high school years and more into her college years that she really began to paint fun pictures of flowers and girls.
Audrey always knew that she wanted to open up a boutique. She has always had a knack for making the presentation of something better than it already is.
She began Seahorse Lane the summer of 2012 in Vero Beach, Florida and hasn’t looked back. Seahorse Lane is an online Facebook boutique filled with the latest fashions in jewelry and accessories to go along with it. Audrey goes to many leading fashion markets such as Atlanta Apparel Market as well as Orlando and Palm Beach. She has
been enjoying the different markets and getting a taste of what market is like on the national stage. Audrey used her business savvy sense of her degree to find the best buys for her company. She mostly sticks to jewelry that can be worn by women from the teenage years to older women. The prices of her pieces are also very reasonable for everyone to find something that they like.
With the store being a Facebook store Audrey doesn’t have to worry about the overhead of having a physical location until she can grow and develop her brand in Vero. When asked what has been her favorite part of Seahorse Lane Audrey said, “ I love the freedom it gives me to do whatever I want with the company and to be able to pick out the items I want to sell!”
Her most popular item at Seahorse Lane right now is the Cross Bracelet and Audrey even said that is one of things she has kept for herself.
Right now the store is on Facebook, and every two weeks Seahorse Lane sets up shop at a Beach Side Market. Audrey doesn’t look to stop there. She has goals of growing the company to expand into clothing and eventually have a store front in Vero.
The main thing Audrey said for people who have thoughts of pursuing something other than what they majored in is to just go for it! She said that you will never know until you try. She is really glad she took the leap and pursued her dreams.
