Auburn Parks and Recreation Hosts 12th Annual Sundown Concert Series at Kiesel Park

Auburn Parks and Recreation recently announced its line-up for the 12th annual Sundown Concert Series at Kiesel Park. The series will start Sept.15 at 6p.m. and will continue every Thursday through September and October.

“This year we are happy to feature seven acts, two of which are new to the series,” said Allison Hall, community and special programs director for the City of Auburn Parks and Recreation.

The line-up for this year’s series includes local and regional musicians of different genres to bring a diverse atmosphere to the concert series that the entire community of all ages will enjoy.

Satin Soul will kick off the series, providing the soulful sounds of smooth jazz and R&B for the audience.  The group was established in 2007 in Auburn, Ala. and continues to be a favorite among the crowd performing at parties, night clubs and wedding receptions around the area.

“We are excited to kick off the series with a performance by Satin Soul. They are a crowd favorite and we have received numerous requests for an encore performance based on their last concert,” said Hall

The remainder of the series will feature John & The Conners on Sept.22, a new comer to the series along with The Good Doctor who will be performing the following week on Sept. 29. The other performers include veterans to the series Dave Potts on Oct. 6, Auburn Knights Orchestra on Oct. 13, Muse on Oct. 20 and the Tony Brook Band will be closing the fall series on Oct.27.

The Sundown Concert Series is one of two annual series hosted by Auburn Parks and Recreation. The concerts began in order to allow citizens to enjoy free entertainment and experience Auburn’s parks in a new exciting and fun way. All concerts provided by Auburn Parks and Recreation are free and open to the public.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket, chairs and food to enjoy the concert with their friends and families. Dogs are also welcome.

The concert is also a good opportunity for students to come out and relax in a laid back environment while enjoying a refreshing change from the bar scene college students are use to.
