Chocolate, healthy? Of course! The Auburn University Women's Resource Center encourages everyone to have a healthy lifestyle, but to also enjoy the simple pleasures in life—like chocolate. That's why it will have the 5th Annual Health and Wellness Chocolate Festival Wednesday, Nov. 13.
This year the Women’s Resource Center is focusing on promoting heart health and all proceeds will benefit this cause. Look for chocolate covered almonds at the expo—almonds are one of the leading foods good for the heart.
The Women's Resource Center's mantra is "everything in moderation." Being healthy doesn't always mean cutting out sweets and sugary snacks as long as a diet is well-rounded. Practicing balance and self-control leads to a happier and healthier life.
A healthy lifestyle doesn't stop with food. Exercise is also key to physical health, and it's important to be emotionally, spiritually and mentally healthy as well.
Auburn Health and Wellness, Campus Recreation, Aubie EDA (Auburn University Body Image Education & Eating Disorders Awareness), Yoga Fly and other local businesses and organizations will provide information and resources about fitness, counseling services, yoga, cancer screening, eating disorders, massage therapy and more.
Aubie will be there too! The festival will have a raffle and silent auction which include the following prizes:
The Chocolate Festival is 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Center ballroom. Tickets are $5 for five pieces of chocolate donated by local restaurants, bakeries and caterers. However, the information is free. If you don’t want chocolate you can still enjoy the expo. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Stop by and start a healthy lifestyle.
