The College of Liberal Arts is the biggest college on Auburn's campus and they offer a wide array of services for Liberal Arts students who are looking to take full advantage of their education experience. One such service is the newly created peer advisor position which Stephanie Zicarelli, a junior from Birmingham, has worked for since its inception last year.
What is your job title and what department do you work for?
My job title is peer advisor for the college of liberal arts. I work with the advising staff.
What are the typical duties of your job?
My typical duties are answering student questions with regards to adding/dropping classes or if they have any other questions about their classes or their major. I also help the advisors with any office work that they may have, and I am contact person for students in the college.
How did you go about getting your job?
I got this job because I am already an ambassador for the college of liberal arts, and they wanted students with experience in the college and a good knowledge of how Auburn is set up and run.
What certain things do peer advisors offer to students who are in need?
We offer quick answers to students via email. We also can answer questions so that students don't have to wait for an appointment with their advisor. I have completenknowledge of CLA policies, and I'm available to the students in 321 Tichenor, which is the same room students go to to check in for their advising appointments.
