Auburn University has an amazing Auburn Abroad program. More than 800 students from Auburn study all over the world each year.
Caitlin Camuti is a senior and spend the summer of 2012 in Madrid, Spain. When asked why she studied abroad Camuti said, "Since I was in high school I knew that I wanted to study abroad in college. My mom had recounted many great memories from her semester abroad in Greece, and she encouraged me to take advantage of a study abroad trip that Auburn had to offer."
Camuti went on about how the experience was something she could never describe. She said she learned more Spanish on the streets of Madrid then she ever learned in her many years of studying Spanish.
"During my time in Spain I developed a greater sense of self," Camuti said. "Not only did I take great strides in understanding and speaking Spanish, I also leaned a lot about what I wanted to do with my future."
When asked about her studies in Paris, France Lauren Fair said,"I went abroad because I wanted to see and experience something completely new and exciting."
Fair said, "If you choose to study abroad be prepared to be pushed out of your comfort zone and do things you would never do in America."
Fair took many things from her time in Paris, but the most valuable thing she learned about herself was that she could appreciate other cultures and learn about the beautiful art and history of our world.
Many student go all over the country and learn about themselves and other cultures. To read blog posts and stories of Auburn students that are abroad or have been abroad go to Global Tiger Tales to learn about their travels.
