As a graduating senior from Auburn University, Cassidy Caukin has accomplished many goals, created lasting friendships and most of all, made memories that will last her a life time.
Caukin has been involved with numerous on campus activities throughout her years at Auburn. Since a freshmen Caukin has been a part of Tiger Tuesdays, Soccer Sweethearts, the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, Greek Sing for her sorority for three years, an Eagle Eye staff member for two years, a report for Eagle Eye News for one year and her most recent accomplishment is becoming a member of the AU Rhythm dance team.
That list is sure to leave you out of breath!
“I have done a lot while I’ve been here,” said Caukin. “And all of it will help me in some way when I leave Auburn.”
Caukin talked about her experience with Eagle Eye News and how she came to college knowing no one. Through Eagle Eye she was able to meet new people and begin her career as a Radio, TV, Film major.
“I really had to learn how to communicate with people when I first got here. And now that I’m moving to a new place after graduation, I will have to take those same communication skills as when I first came to college,” said Caukin.
Of all the things Caukin has been involved with, there were some that stuck out to her the most. For instance, her time spent in Italy studying abroad, organizing Greek Sing and commentating for ESPNU at one of the Auburn basketball games.
“After I worked with ESPNU I was offered an opportunity to work with ESPN for an internship this summer,” said Caukin. “I’m so fortunate to have this experience and can’t wait to move to Connecticut to start my internship with ESPN.”
Caukin also shared memories of her time spent in the dorms as a freshmen and sophomore. There she met her best friend, Laura Cherry, who shared the same classes and sorority as Caukin. They have now lived together every year.
But of all memories at Auburn, the best one Caukin has was from the Auburn vs. Florida football game played at Auburn her freshmen year.
“It was exciting for me because I moved from Florida where all my friends gave me a hard time about coming to Auburn,” said Caukin, “and when Kenny Irons ran the ball back for a touchdown to beat Florida, right in front of the student center, I had never been more excited.”
Caukin’s “I Am” description: “I Am Determined.” And with this she will embark on her next chapter in life after graduation, taking with her determination, lessons learned from college and the long-lasting memories of four years at Auburn University.
“I’m going to miss the people at Auburn and the great atmosphere I’ve lived in for the past four years,” said Caukin. “And for those entering as freshmen, I would tell them to not take themselves too seriously and to live in the moment; Auburn’s a great place and I love it. War Eagle!”
