Sabra Sweetland is a 4th generation Auburn University student. As she reflects about the memories she has made in her four years as an undergrad student, tears come to her eyes. "To me, Auburn gives a new definition to Family," Sweetland says.
Sweetland’s Great-Grandfather attended Auburn University (known as Auburn Polytechnic Institute back then) when it was an all male establishment. Her grandparents both graduated from Auburn in 1954. Sweetland cannot keep a smile from her face while she tells the story about how her
Grandparents met on Samford Lawn and have now been married 50 years. “It’s every Auburn woman’s fantasy,” Sweetland says.
Sweetland describes the various experiences that have made her time at Auburn so amazing. One of those experiences was joining a social sorority on campus. "I did not know what to expect coming to college but the women I met through getting involved in Greek Life really made that transition easy."
Another experience that Sweetland said has made her years at Auburn so incredible was the experience of gameday on the Plains. She grew up an Auburn Football fan and has not missed a home game since in her 4 years at Auburn. "There is just this feeling you get from standing in the students section right as the players run out on the field for the first time, its indescribable,"Sweetland says.
Sweetland extends to all those looking to possibly attend Auburn to come see the true meaning behind "The Auburn Family," it will be the best decision you have ever made!
