“You come to Auburn and I don’t think you realize right off the bat your first step at auburn that you really do become a family. It’s almost a magical world. It’s a really enjoyable place to be with people who really care about you,” said Newton.
Newton also works on campus as a trainer and group fitness instructor at the student activities center. She teaches Zumba, a Latin dance inspired workout class.
“The most rewarding experiences I get from that is that people will come up to me randomly at all place in Auburn and tell me, ‘oh, you’re my Zumba teacher. You’ve made sucha difference for me.’ I think if you ever hear anyone tell you you’ve made a difference, you’re time is well worth it,” Newton said.
Newton has been a Tiger Splasher, the official swim and dive team hostesses, for four years and president for the past two.
“They are national champions, so it has definitely been a privilege to work with them,” Newton said.
Newton said she was going to miss Thursday nights at Momma G’s with live music and her friends, among other things.
“My favorite memories at Auburn are tailgating before the football games,” Newton said. “I think it’s really cool how you can get together with all of your friends and it’s the Saturday you can put school work aside.”
After graduation, Newton will apply for an internship and then, take the registered dietician exam. Newton said she hopes to work as a dietician and personal trainer.
“I think what I’ll miss most the freedom to sleep in and do what you want to do. You’re always going to have to make decisions. College was so fun,” said Newton.
