Congratulations on joining the craziest, smartest and most-loving family. You are in for the ride of your life. As a soon-to-be Auburn alumna, I would like to pass on a few tips that will make your Auburn experience that much better.
1. GO TO CLASS
Yes, we all need our mental health days. However, it isn't worth sacrificing your A for a B to spend those 50 minutes in bed diving into your Breaking Bad marathon. Walter White can wait.
2. STAY FOR THE ENTIRE FOOTBALL GAME
They don't call us a "second half team" for nothing. The most exciting moments of your college career will happen in the last quarter of the game. Trust me, the ache in your feet will subside when you're screaming at the top of your lungs, crying and hugging strangers.
3. BECOME FRIENDS WITH YOUR PROFESSOR
The first day of class is always the same. Your professors preach about the benefits of seeing them in their office hours and you tell yourself you'll do it. But you don't. However, at the end of the semester when you are straddling an A and a B in the class, you'll wish you were "that kid" that stopped in to just say hi.
4. GO TO THE LIBRARY
Ralph Brown Draughon will, at some point, be your most-prominent relationship. You'll have sleepovers and meltdowns, and RBD will always be there. He'll know your friends, keep your energy up and even become a source for some shut-eye.
5. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY AUBURN MOMENT
Auburn is unlike any other. You will have your best and worst moments here. Live the Auburn life and take advantage of these precious moments. Trust me when I tell you, they are fleeting.
I hope you will take this advice to heart and truly appreciate your school. After all, Auburn is not only a school, but a family.
A very nostalgic Auburn senior
"It is a spirit. It is an attitude. It is a way of looking at life and at one another. It is, almost, a way of living. Unless you have experienced it, you will never know what it is; you will never understand it. Once you have experienced it, you will never be the same. A part of you will, forevermore, be an Auburn man or an Auburn woman."
