Quadruplets graduate from Auburn University

By Jim Jackson and Amy Weaver, Office of Communications and Marketing

Mary Elizabeth, Sarah, Will and Caitlin Haynes came to Auburn University together and they will leave it together.

When the quadruplet children of Tammy and Bruce Haynes of Ohatchee, Ala., were admitted to college on the Plains, each earned the same four-year scholarship.

"Mom and dad told us, you have a scholarship for four years so you have four years to graduate, or you're on your own," explained Will.

This weekend, the siblings will graduate, participating in spring commencement exercises at Auburn Arena.
It's natural for quadruplets to share momentous occasions together and be competitive with each other, but these siblings and their older sister turned graduating from college into a unique rivalry.

Born three years before her brother and sisters, Anna Lee did everything first. She was on track to finish college first until she put her education on hold to get married and start a family.

Anna Lee had every intention of completing her studies one day, but when it looked like her younger siblings would graduate before her, she returned to school and completed her degree, graduating one week prior to her siblings.
