Typically, breast cancer is a dark subject, but not on the evening of Girls Night Out. Instead, it’s going to be a happy affair about survival, protecting ourselves and supporting each other; a night to celebrate, whether one is a survivor or a supporter.

“This is the second time the modeling board will be participating in Girls Night Out,” said Emily Busby, vice president of the AU modeling board. “The board had so much fun at the first Girls Night Out we attended back in December that we just had to get involved again.”

Planning the fashion event is just one of the ways to bring women together to celebrate life and the fight. The evening will feature fellowship, music, homemade hors d'oeuvres, educational talks, gift bags, new friends and fashion.

“It’s so exhilarating to be around real-life survivors and hear their stories,” said Busby. “Getting the opportunity to be a part of such a celebration is truly a joyous experience.”

Each model will showcase their own personal wardrobe, including the latest styles and spring trends.

Girls Night Out will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the East Alabama Medical Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and everyone is encouraged to attend.
