The program for students with disabilities may not be the most well-known on campus, but it definitely has a purpose to serve all students.

"You name it, we've seen it," says Steve Guice, interpreter coordinator and disability specialist for the program. From cancer to AD/HD, the program serves that and the in-between. After receiving specific documentation from a licensed physician, the process to receive accommodations is relatively easy.

The staff is eager to help, whether it is to work with a specific teacher to receive accommodations, have a proctored exam, or help you sign up for the GRE. Guice explains their main goal is to help you earn a degree. "If you're smart enough to get into Auburn, you're smart enough to get out of Auburn," says Guice. He says it is their biggest joy to see their students walk across the stage at graduation.

Some accommodations that the program with disabilities provide are: proctored exams, extended test time, note taker services, interpreter, priority registration and other classroom accommodations.

One prized accommodation that can be given is preferential parking, but that is only given to students who have mobility issues.

Other accommodations that are not well-known are the recreational facilities options. The aquatics center and the accessible weight room both provide students with disabilities to participate in extracurricular activities

The program works with all students, but it is up to the student to work with their teachers and the program to receive all possible accommodations.
