In our continuing update of Auburn alumna following their dreams in broadcasting and more, meet Lindsay McCormick. This is her 2013 broadcast reel featuring excerpts from her work on various sports networks, channels and websites.
McCormick has appeared in the hit NBC drama Grimm and has also been seen in Leverage on TNT. She's also been writing a column for the Esquire magazine blog. Read more about Lindsay in other articles here in Auburn Family.
McCormick graduated from Auburn University in 2007, where she majored in Communications specializing in Public Relations. It was at Auburn that she was able to develop her passion for broadcasting and sports to a greater extent. She was involved with the campus news station, Eagle Eye TV, and started to learn new techniques about filming, editing and production. She became a host for Eagle Eye TV in the fall of 2007, which broadcast on campus as well as off campus on Channel 16.
At the same time she was becoming involved with Eagle Eye TV, she also applied for a hosting job with MtvU. Shortly after, she was contacted by their producers to host a music countdown show called "The Dean’s List." She worked with producers by phone to write the script and then shot the video around Auburn University’s campus. The show aired online as well as on MtvU.
But, it was when she starting picking up sports stories for Eagle Eye TV, working with media relations to interview NCAA players for the news and participating in press conferences with coaches, that she found her true calling. The two things she loved most, sports and broadcasting, combined into one. Lindsay's family always joked that she was raised in a "sports family." Her dad played baseball, her brother played basketball on the WNBA Houston Comet’s practice team and her grandfather was drafted by the Washington Redskins in 1946. "For as long as I can remember, my life has always revolved around sports, and I wouldn’t have it any other way," she has said.
Today, McCormick is a TV personality and reporter from Houston, TX who has hosted the 2012 NFL Draft for CBS Sports and the 3-hour show, "The Fan" on Comcast SportsNet. She was an analyst on the panel for "Rip City Live," covered the Portland Trail blazers and has appeared on "ESPN Streak for the Cash" and "ESPN College Pick’em" on ESPN.com, the MtvU music countdown show "The Dean’s List," ESPN Radio 1080 and CBS Radio's "The Drive." She began her career covering the Auburn University football team and then covered the NFL for ESPN The Magazine. McCormick was also featured during the NFL Playoffs along with Sage Steele and Suzy Kolber for Esquire Magazine. You can catch her weekly on Esquire.com breaking down the weekend NFL games with the help of her friends on the sidelines in "Monday Morning Cheerleader with Lindsay McCormick."
McCormick was an intern for ESPN during her senior year of college, where she learned from the best sports anchors and reporters in the business and produced highlights for shows including "SportsCenter," "NBA Fastbreak" and "Baseball Tonight."
