In lieu of the start to college football season, I find it only appropriate to focus on game day attire this week. Game day demands clothing that caters to both comfort and a distinct color palette — orange and navy being Auburn’s school colors. Local boutiques in downtown Auburn allot entire sections of their stores to football season clothing and accessories. Despite local business efforts, it sometimes can become a competition of “who wore it better” when numerous Fashionistas are spotted sporting the same sundress to the game.
Regardless of whether your school typically dons a sundress or a T-shirt, it takes a thrifty Fashionista to standout from the crowd. This particular Fashionista exemplifies defying the game day norm. Instead of a dress, she pairs a fun and flirty romper with whisky-colored heels. She flaunts her school spirit by incorporating one of her team’s colors (navy) in the outfit’s print, but expresses a funkier flair with the unique cut of her romper. A romper is a simple solution to achieving a stylish and put-together look, without comprising comfort. Rompers serve as a practical clothing option because, along with being a quick and comfortable outfit, a romper can save your bum from a scorching stadium seat! Typically a summer look, rompers can be easily transitioned into fall simply by adding a lightweight cardigan or wearing one with a longer sleeve length. Still hesitant towards “romping around” the football game because you think you can’t pull the romper look off? Nonsense! There’s a romper for all shapes and sizes!
There are endless ways to bring fashion into football season, so never be afraid to express your inner Fashionista come game day. Just remember, a CollegeFashionista is able to be sports-savvy while remaining chic and unique!
Hint: If a bold game day statement (such as a romper) seems intimidating, start small and refurbish your outfit’s color scheme. Not every inch of your ensemble has to be dedicated to your school’s specific team colors. Try focusing on only one of your school’s colors. If one of your school’s colors is bright and bold — i.e. Auburn Tiger Orange — let that color speak for itself and use a minimalist approach to the rest of the colors in your look.
