Support Reading Is Fundamental with Kappa Kappa Gamma's 7th Annual Chili Cook-off (featuring the Ryan Kinder Band)

Whether you prefer to eat hot chili, mild chili, spicy chili or chili that will make your mouth sweat, your taste buds will dance at the pure joy of tasting the infinite amount of pots of chili that groups are currently drawing up recipes for. All of these types of chili, plus more, can be found at Ag Heritage Park, also known as the red barn located on Donahue Drive. Kappa Kappa Gamma will be hosting the 7th annual Chili Cook-off on Saturday, March 27, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The sorority will donate all of the proceeds to its cherished philanthropy Reading Is Fundamental.

Pots of chili take us back to memories of large family gatherings, brothers and sisters crowding at the table to add cheese, crackers and sour cream into their warm bowls of mouthwatering chili. It reminds us of tradition; and therefore, in a sense, it reminds us of the Auburn Family. This cook-off gives the Auburn Family the opportunity to join together as one and enjoy those similar moments we take satisfaction in with our blood relatives.

Anyone interested in entering the contest must have a team of four people, submit the entry form and pay a $20 entrance fee to any sister of Kappa Kappa Gamma by March 23. The fee includes a T-shirt for each contestant. Each team must have enough chili to serve at least 10 to 15 guests. Special guest judges will score each pot of chili on taste and the appearance of the table.

If you would like to join the celebration without entering the contest, the fee is only $12 per person. The cost includes a T-shirt, chili, hotdogs, numerous door prizes and many more surprises. The Ryan Kinder Band will be playing during the festivities.

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) was established in 1966 with the goal of preparing and motivating children by providing resources to families who may not be able to afford it.
