Survival Guide: Surviving the Dreadful Last Weeks of School

It's that time again--crunch time. The semester is winding down and summer break will be here before you know it. With all the assignments and projects that are left in the last few weeks, you may be wondering how you will survive it all and come out on top.  Below are five tips that may help you get through the next few weeks with the least amount of stress as possible.

1. Plan ahead.

Make a list. Check it twice, three times and over again until you know it by memory. Review each syllabus to refresh your memory on what's due and write everything down in order of importance. The ratio of the number of weeks left to amount of time needed to spend on final projects and papers may discourage you, but it can be handled.  Make sure you've turned in all assignments up until now. You don't want any surprises later.

2.DON'T procrastinate.

It's time to break it off with your friend procrastination. You two have had this on-again-off-again relationship the entire semester, but now you have decided that your goals don't match and you want better. Leave procrastination at the door and meet your new buddy--proactive. Now you can take the list you made above and get started!

3. Priorities, Priorities. Did I say priorities?

Yes, we all want to enjoy the beautiful spring weather and all of the upcoming events like Rodeo and Tiger Stomp, but don't forget to prioritize. Once the events end your coursework will still be there. Not to say you shouldn't participate ... just do your work beforehand.  Sacrifice your Friday or Saturday night to study and complete your work. That way you get the best of both worlds and there will be no regrets later.

4. Don't Stress.

Just thinking about everything that's due at the end of the semester may give you anxiety, but don't let it stress you out. If you feel overwhelmed, take a step away from you work,  cry it out, take a drive or walk. Continuing to work on a project when you're stressed may make the problem worse. Allow yourself to take your mind off of the task for a short while and let your brain take a break. Then, come back and refocus.

5.Keep your eyes on the prize.

Summer break will be here before you know it. That may be your ultimate prize, but what is your
end-of-semester goal? Keep that goal in mind as you work through each task to remind yourself why you're working so hard.

6. DON'T give up.

It will all be over before you know it. Just put one foot in front of the other and stay focused, you will be relishing in your summer fun in no time!
