AU Rhythm is Auburn's Hip-hop dance team on campus. What separates AU Rhythm from Auburn's other dance teams such as the Tiger Paws and Majorettes is that that they are a co-ed group and solely based on hip-hop performance, offering a new type of urban style to the Auburn atmosphere. They combine multiple unique and fast-paced hip-hop dance moves for an energetic show. You can always find them dancing to a mix of fun current music as well as new modern techno.
The group is currently composed of 21 people and they practice regularly throughout the week. AU Rhythm is a sure crowd pleaser at all the pep-rallies. They also perform at other campus events such as Hey Day, the Miss Glom Pageant, Campus Leadership Conferences, Talent Shows and other fundraising events.
Auburn senior, Adair Galanski, has been on the AU Rhythm dance team for two years now. When speaking about who choreographs the dances, Galanski said, "We have a captain and co-captain, Tiffany Jolly and Micah Hayes, but we actually all pitch in as a team. Some team members will choreograph part of a dance, other people do different parts!"
Something new that the AU Rhythm troupe is looking forward to, is to start participating in an after school program. The goal of the program is to help kids get involved in dance and give them a positive activity to do after school.
