If you are an Auburn student or faculty member, every week you get an email in your inbox from Ashley House. Not sure who that is?
We all get the weekly email, “This Week @ AU” that informs us on various events taking place in Auburn for the upcoming week.
Sound familiar now? The face behind those emails is Ashley House, an Auburn senior public relations major.
House is the intern for the Office of Communications and Marketing. Not only does she get to work in the most beautiful building on Auburn’s campus, Samford Hall, she also gets to send out a weekly email to the entire Auburn family.
War Eagle to that.
Any one can send in a submission they believe is worthy of “This Week @ AU.” It is a great way to spread the word about an upcoming event! Just send an email to the OCM to get your event in!
House says her favorite part of her internship is being in the know. “I’m able to get the inside scoop on what is happening on campus. That is really cool. I’m always on top of what’s coming up.”
Tons of submissions for the weekly email come in, House has the pleasure of sorting through them and picking the ones for the email.
It doesn’t hurt that she gets to work from such a beautiful building. “Every day I go to work I get to walk into Samford Hall. How many interns get to work in such an awesome building? I will remember this forever.”
Many Auburn students complete various internships all over the country, but there are many benefits of doing a local, Auburn internship.
“I love my university and I have previously done an internship that wasn’t local, so I wanted to do a local one before I graduate in December… I want to get as much Auburn time in before I go.”
The Office of Communications and Marketing takes student interns every semester. House is one of their fall interns. OCM works to promote Auburn University through various initiatives.
The next time the “This Week @ AU” email pops up in your inbox, you will know who is behind that email!
