Two Women (I Know) in the 2012 Olympics

With the announcement of Auburn's Marisa Grimes being selected as the Olympic Torchbearer in London.

I now find myself in the unique position of knowing two ladies at the Olympics in London.

In 1955, I rowed in the heavyweight rowing crew at University of Pennsylvania. We were the best in the world that year.

When I returned,years later, as an alumni, I was surprised to find women at the boathouse.

No,they were NOT cheerleaders but the new Penn Womens Crew.  

This year, another Penn Alumnae, Susan Franchia, is a member of the US Womens Olympic Rowing Team.   Susan was a member of the last USA  Olympic Rowing team that won.
